Story Time!

I don't know about you, but I LOVE a good book. In fact I love all books! I often sneak into my room and pull every book from the shelves, sit in the corner, and "read" them all. They are more interesting than my toys! I thought it might be fun to share my very favorite books with you, so in no particular order, here are my top 10 books:

10. Chicka Chicka ABC
This book is quite the page-turner! I always hope the whole alphabet will fit up in that coconut tree, but the ending still shocks me each time! This book is also read on one of my favorite episodes of Blue's Room, and the alphabet acts out the book! It is like a book made into a movie, but as always, the book is still better :)

9. Goodnight Moon
Goodnight Moon is a great sleepy-time book. It always calms me right down, and I get all snuggly wuggly for bed as I tell everything in the great green room goodnight. A perfect companion to this book is the song "Three Little Kittens" - you know, the ones that lost their mittens? My mom sings that to me after we read Goodnight Moon, and soon I am off to dreamland!

8. Quack Quack
Short on words, but definitely not on cuteness, Quack Quack was one of my first books as a little baby. It has all sorts of baby animals and tells what sort of sound they make. But best of all, each animal is fluffy soft and fun to pet, nuzzle with my nose, and give kissies to. I never, ever get tired of this book!

7.Pet the Bear and His Alaskan Friends
Another "touchy feely" book, Pet the Bear came to me all the way from Alaska, a gift from one of mommy's friends. It has animals like black bears, polar bears, moose, elk, salmon, caribou and mountain goats. My favorite animal in this book is the salmon, he has sequins for scales and is super pretty. I spend the most time on that page when I read this book by myself. You simply can't go wrong with touchy feely animal books!

6. Big Red Barn
Animal books are clearly a favorite of mine, and Big Red Barn is chock full of farm animals. The illustrations are adorable, and the book is so sweet. I feel like I am really on a farm. Reading this book takes me back to my visits to Old MacDonald's Farm where I petted the sheep, goats and cows. Big Red Barn was given to me by my doctor. I get a new book at each well-baby visit, and this one is my favorite of all I have received so far!

5. That's Not My Teddy
Is that my teddy? Probably not if his ears are too fuzzy or his nose is too squishy! This book is like playing hide and seek in a story! All the way through I am trying to find my teddy, but all these imposter teddies keep showing up! At least they are all fun to touchy :) I turn each page anxiously, hoping to find my teddy, and he is always waiting for me at the end of this book. Even though only one is my teddy, the rest are pretty cute too :)

4. On the Night You Were Born
This book just gives me a warm feeling inside. The pictures in this story are BEAUTIFUL, and the story itself makes me feel so special! Each page reminds me that I am the only one like me in the whole wide world, because God made me unique. It is all about the celebration that happened when I was born. My favorite part tells why the polars bears are asleep at the zoo... they are sleepy because they were up dancing the whole night when I was born! Mommy says this book is a "keepsake". It was a gift from another of mommy's friends, and will definitely be cherished always.

3. The Unbeatable Bread
"Uncle Jon" loves to bake! He bakes all the time, and "Aunt Lucy" tells him he needs to cool it. But Uncle Jon decides he will make the most delicious, "unbeatable" bread ever. My grammy makes bread all the time, so I know a little bit about it, and Uncle Jon makes his bread like grammy does - lots of ingredients like sunshine & love! The smell of Uncle Jon's bread is so yummy that all the neighborhood kids and animals are drawn to his cottage, where they share the tasty bread when it comes out of the oven. Now I wish I had a piece of toast!

2. Who Made the Morning?
This book is extra special because it was first published on my birthday - same day, same year! So I think of this book as a birthday present to me. It is the harrowing tale of Little Brown Bird, who wakes up one morning and inquires of everyone she meets who made the beautiful morning. Finally the breeze whispers to her that God, the maker of all the world, made the beautiful morning. So Little Brown Bird decides she is going to find God and thank Him for the morning. Little Brown Bird flies and flies over towns and rivers and trees. She ends up very far from home, caught in a snow storm and chased by an eagle. She is scared, cold and hungry, but she finds God in the midst of the storm and God takes care of her. She flies home the next morning, and when the other birds ask if she found God, Little Brown Bird tells them how she did find God, and how He protected her and lead her home. I know I never have to be scared, because God will take care of me like He did Little Brown Bird!

1. God Gave Us You
This is another very special book, one that has quite a story behind the story, and one that has been read to me since I was in my mom's tummy. It all started several years before my mom & dad had even thought about having me. Dad saw this book & said he felt like he and mom should buy it. The polar bears reminded them of my furry sister Sasha (she is an American Eskimo dog). So mommy & daddy bought the book and put it away for when they would have a baby. When they found out about me, they began to read me the story every night, even before I was born! God Gave Us You is about Little Cub, a curious polar bear cub who asks her mother all sorts of questions about why she is so special to her mommy & daddy. Mama Bear explains to her how she and Papa Bear were alone and hoped for a baby, and how Little Cub grew inside her tummy. It is a great book that explains all about babies and how we get here. I know my mommy & daddy wanted me every bit as much as Mama & Papa Bear wanted Little Cub. God gave me to my mom & dad too, so that is why I love this book!

I hope you like my list, and that it inspires you to go out and read a book. If anyone has any suggestions for must-read stories, I am all ears! My little library in my room keeps growing, and I anxiously await the day I will be able to read all my stories myself!

Love,
Iris

Hi Miss Marie, Miss Ashleigh and Miss Jen :) Thank you all for coming to my page! Touchy feely books are the best books ever created huh Miss Marie? I think more people would read the classics if there were some fuzzy pages thrown in! Miss Ashleigh, you have great taste! Goodnight Moon is awesome! Please let me know if Holden likes it! I read a lot so I can become a smart cookie Miss Jen :) I want to be able to read them on my own some day, even though the pictures are nice to look at in the meantime :) Have a beautiful day everyone!
